How to make a poster board

Introduction
A good poster board should cover the main points of your research, to catch a person’s interest and provoke discussion during the designated time for presentation. Organize your ideas clearly to properly convey your message. A poster should be eye-catching, elaborate, easy to read, and convey a clear message; it should be designed to take into account its use as a base for presentation and discussion of your work. However, it should also be self-explanatory.  Remember that the audience has a short space of time to focus on your presentation. Use colors to add height to your main points and make your poster more attractive. Whenever appropriate Use pictures, diagrams, cartoons, etc..., rather than text.

Poster Panels and Sizes

Poster panels will be made available by the Meeting Secretariat who will also inform the area and time designated for their presentation. Information can also be found in the Meeting Program. The panels must have a display area of 90cm (35.4in) X 120cm (47.2 in) (width x height). However, posters will also be accepted if between 90cm (35.4in) and 120cm (47.2 in) X between 80cm (31.5in) and 90cm (35.4in) (width x height). The language of the poster heading must be the same used in the paper published in the Annals.  Enlarge visuals so that your poster is easily viewed from an approximately 150cm (4’11”) distance. It will be hanged on the panel or assembled using a double face tape. All panels are Formica laminated, so do not use velcro, tacks, nails or any perforating item. Do not write anything on the panels. Bring all necessary materials for your presentation.

How to Prepare the Poster

The heading is in UPPERCASE and the font is ARIAL 46 to 48, bold and centralized. Scientific names must follow international rules and be in italic. You may use your Institution or University logo on the heading left side, as well as your state/province or country flag to help the public identify the origin of the poster. Below the heading write the author’s name(s) (Centralized Arial 32) underlining the name of the author/presenter. Under that line write the authors’ addresses, and the first author’s e-mail. Use Centralized Arial 32.

The poster may include an Abstract if you think it will help convey your message. The remaining information should be divided into sections initiating with the Introduction and finishing with the Conclusion. Other sections such as: Objectives, Materials and Methods, and Results may also be included. Acknowledgements may be placed at the end. You may also include a List of References, if necessary.

Other information

Make a short summary of your paper to present to the audience.
Be prepared to spend all the designated time for your session next to your poster, since this is a prerequisite to receive a Certificate of Presentation. If the other authors are present at the Meeting they should help you during the presentation and discussion.
The posters may be brought by the presenters or sent by a carrier directly to your hotel. Do not send the posters to the Meeting Secretariat, which will not feel responsible for receiving and assembling the posters.

Make sure you bring all the necessary material to assemble and fix your poster in case it suffers any damage during transportation. You may bring copies of your publication to be distributed when requested.

The author must be present during the entire session. There will not be a coordinator for the poster sessions, however members of the Secretariat will be available to make sure that all posters are being assisted by the person responsible, and also to provide the respective certificates, considering that for issuing these certificates it is necessary the author’s presence at the designated presentation of his/her work.
